Shall we have a Fruits de Mer, he said. Ooohhh lovely! Yes! Please, i said. How about champagne, he said. Oh ok, i said.
The sun was shining today and the air was warm. So, what better than to celebrate my birthday with some seafood feast for lunch?
Let us all take a moment to enjoy this sight.
If there is such thing as long lunch as the French do, this was probably it. We sat there a while, chatting and enjoyed each morsels of the seafood meat with beer and champagne. Oh so fresh and oh so sweet and tasty. They were cooked this morning by The Fresh Fish Company, Jersey and picked up at 11am, ready for our lunch.
I made the potato salad and the sauce/dips. Mignonette for the raw oysters + cooked whelks, garlic + lemon mayonnaise for the crab, lobsters + prawns and tartare sauce. It was nice to dip them in to the sauce. They were so yummy with potato salad and garlic flat bread. It makes me hungry again just typing this.
The potato salad was very easy and simple. Just the way we love it.
Pre-boil some Jersey potatoes, add mayonnaise, salt, pepper, thinly sliced spring onions and chopped chives to garnish. Voila!
I often dream about this kind of lunch, sitting in the sun.
Happy birthday, to me! :)
