As some of you may notice, i have a passion for photography and styling. Whether it be food, interior or Hayden rocking some kids fashion, i love to style and photograph. It's my creative outlet from my everyday life.
First and foremost, i love taking photos of Hayden to capture memories and milestones of his growth process. It so happens that he gets given gifts from brands to wear, play and decorate his room with, that is a bonus. Regardless of these gifts, i would be taking photos of him anyway, whenever i can [just like everyone else, i am a proud mum]. We are forever grateful for these gifts.
When i started on instagram some years ago, i wasn't really sure to its purpose other than posting random images and foodporn which would otherwise not be posted on my Facebook account. Unless of course, you're a foodie like me, most people are not generally interested to see what i had eaten for dinner or lunch.
Then, fast forward and behold... i had Hayden. Again, although Facebook is generally filled with friends and family and random acquaintances here and there, it's a strange community. I never truly felt i am entitled to post photos of Hayden on a regular basis. Of course, to those who don't have children, seeing baby photos regularly on their feed can probably get tiresome. They will never understand my needs as a mother to spam their feeds with my baby's photos. Ironically, i see the same people who constantly moan about these things who didn't have children then but now have, do the exact same thing they once loathed. I have deactivated my Facebook account some few months ago now. I don't actually miss it. I feel that Facebook no longer serves the purpose it once had for me. It's actually quite refreshing not to have it anymore. Friends who genuinely wants to know how we are doing contact us by phone or meet for coffee chats, play dates or dinners at home and likewise, i am gradually working thru connecting with friends who i have not seen or spoken to in ages to arrange quality time.
Instagram, on the other hand lets me have these tiny squares to post whatever my passionately creative little mind allows me to. It is my perfect space for my creative outlet. It is filled with great communities that supports each other. Far and wide, i have met some wonderful people who inspires me, found shops i would not just randomly come across on google, connected with people with similar interests, rocking clothes brands for my little boy, gorgeous interior items, kind, hardworking and honest people. Thru these communities, there are families who share snippets of their daily lives [just like me] and have the cutest kids. Each have stories to tell. Most days, they share my innermost thoughts. They help me smile at the most difficult times when i am going thru a hard day just by posting random thoughts and musings along with photos of their adorable children. It's also great seeing children the same age as Hayden grow, thru these little squares. Our common interests extends to even the most random friendship. These people i have never met in person shows unconditional kindness with their words everyday and... they never tire of seeing photos of Hayden on their feed.
This 'Creative Little Mind' tee from Jax & Hedley that Hayden is wearing is the inspiration behind this post. Just like me, Louise [founder and owner] is passionately creative. She built her company and brand with her creative mind and hands. Being a mum of two very young children, she is one of the many example of hardworking and inspirational people i speak of that i have met thru instagram.
